Himalayan Wonderland 

Day 1: Paro/Thimphu Arrive at any time, and transfer to Thimpu.

Day 2: Thimphu Visit the National Memorial Chorten, the Buddha Point, and Motithang Takin Preserve. In the evening, visit Tashichho Dzong.

Day 3: Thimphu/Gangtey Gonpa Drive through the Bhutanese countryside passing small villages and panoramic views of the Himalayas en route to Gangtey for a night in a family's farmhouse. Visit the Black-Necked Crane Centre and learn about these birds and their environment.

Day 4: Gangtey Gonpa/Punākha Hike in the Phobjikha Valley and explore the Gangtey Gonpa Monastery. Afterwards, travel to the ancient capital of Punakha and enjoy a short hike in Lobeysa to Chime Lhakhang, built in 1499.

Day 5: Punākha Visit Punakha Dzong, the winter capital of the Je Khenpo (chief abbot). Later, hike to Khamsum Yueley Chorten and take in the views, followed by a visit to the Sangchhen Dorji Lhuendrup Nunnery.

Day 6: Punākha/Haa Dzongkhag Enjoy Punakha before driving to Haa Valley. Take in more scenic Himalayan ranges and valleys. Visit the White Temple (Lhakhang Karpo) before an evening walk around town.

Day 7: Haa Dzongkhag/Paro Enjoy a short hike up to Kila Gompa, a nunnery perched on a cliff housing over 60 nuns. Continue on to Paro, with free time to wander the streets and pick up some souvenirs.

Day 8: Paro/Bumdrak Camp Trek through fluttering prayer flags, rhododendron trees, and conifer forests to reach Bumdrak camp at 3860m.

Day 9: Paro Trek back down through grassy meadows and trees covered in wispy moss. Later, hike to the stunning Taktsang Monastery (Tiger's Nest) and the Kyichu Temple, one of the oldest in Bhutan.

Day 10: Paro Depart at any time. Airport transfer included.

GLIMPSE OF BHUTAN

Day 1: Arrive Paro and transfer to Thimphu (by road – 55kms)
Experience the thrill of mountain flying while gazing down over the meandering Paro Chu River. You will be met on arrival and transferred to Thimphu, the modern capital, where you stay overnight. (L/D)

Day 2 : Thimphu Sightseeing
This morning, you visit the National Library, the Institute for Zorig Chusum (traditional arts and crafts), the Textile and Folk Heritage Museum and the King’s Memorial Chorten then, this afternoon, Trashichhoedzong (“fortress of the glorious religion”) and Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal (reconstructed in the 1960s). You also have time to stroll around the government-run Handicrafts Emporium and local crafts shops before making your way back to Paro via typical mountain scenery. Your stay here will be for 2 nights. (B/L/D)

Day 3 : Paro – sightseeing (by road – 55kms)
After breakfast, drive to Paro visit Ta Dzong, now housing the National Museum which displays antique thangkha paintings, textiles, weapons and a rich assortment of historic artifacts. You then walk to Rinpung Dzong, which has a long and fascinating history. After lunch, you drive to Drukgyel Dzong, a ruined fortress where Bhutanese warriors fought Tibetan invaders centuries ago, then visit the 7th century Kyichu Lhakhang, one of 108 temples built in the Himalayas by Tibetan King, Songtsen Gampo. The construction of this temple marks the introduction of Buddhism to Bhutan. (B/L/D)

Day 4 : Paro – Tiger’s nest excursion
After breakfast, you drive to Taktsang, the most famous of Bhutanese monasteries which is widely known as “Tiger’s Nest.” On your return journey to Paro, you’ll visit Paro town . (B/L/D)

Day 5 : Depart Paro
After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport where arrangements end. (B)

Highlights in-clude Ta Dzong Museum, Rimpong Dzong with its wooden cantilevered bridge and the infamous Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest) in the beautiful Paro Valley, The National Memorial Chorten, 12th century Changangkha Temple and the National Library exhibiting ancient scriptures in Bhutan’s capital Thimphu, and after crossing the 3050m Dochula Pass with spectacular Himalayan views, a journey into the sub-tropical Punakha Valley featuring the incredible the Punakha Dzong and Chimi Lhakang, temple of the ‘Divine Madman’.

CLASSIC BHUTAN TOURS 7 DAYS

Day 1 Fly to Paro and overland to Thimphu
The flight to Paro is one of the most spectacular mountain flights in the world, with a constantly changing panorama of some of the highest mountains on earth. This beautiful valley is home to many of Bhutan’s oldest monasteries and temples, and the country’s only international airport. After being welcomed with “Khadar” (traditional scarf), a BDA representative will provide you with the neces-sary assistance for completion of all immigration and customs formalities. You will enjoy an exquisite lunch experience before transfer by deluxe 4WD to Bhutan’s capital, Thimphu. Remainder of the day is at leisure to settle in, relax, enjoy the hotel facilities or if you wish undertake a small tour of downtown Thimphu. (B/D)

Day 2 Thimphu – sightseeing
After breakfast, you will commence your sightseeing, with visits to the impressive Memorial Chorten (built by the Queen Mother in memory of for her late husband, the third King of Bhutan), the School of Arts and Crafts. The National Library, Folk Heritage and Textile Museums and a handicraft emporium. There will also be an opportunity to view the locals at work and play, perhaps even an archery contest (this being the national sport). (B/L/D)

Day 3 Thimphu to Punakha (70kms)
After breakfast, you will be driven via Dochula Pass (3100 metres) where, on a clear day, you can view the peaks of Masagang (7158m), Tsendagang (6960m), Terigang (7060m), Jejegangphugang (7158m), Kangphugang (7170m), Zongphugang (7060m) and the high-est of all - Gangkar Puensum (7497m). You then drive down into the lush valley to Wangduephodrang, visiting its dzong and a local market where bamboo products and slate / stone carvings are on display. You stay overnight. (B/L/D)

Day 5 Paro – sightseeing
After breakfast, Drive to Chelala pass which has the highest motorized road in Bhutan. After lunch, visit Ta Dzong, now housing the National Museum which displays antique thangkha paintings, textiles, weapons and a rich assortment of historic artifacts. Day 6 Paro – sightseeing
This morning, you drive beside the winding Pa Chu (chu meaning river or water) to Sat-sam Chorten. From this point, we begin the challenging hike to Taktsang - "The Tiger's Nest." A vantage point directly across a gorge from the temple can be reached in about 2 hours. This magical monastery clings to a vertical granite cliff 600 meters above the val-ley floor. Legend says that Guru Padmasambhava flew to a cave on this cliff riding a tiger (hence the name) to meditate. There’s nothing like a day’s hike to finish your wonderful stay in Bhutan. (B/L/D)
